What to Expect During Calcium Scoring
Before Your Scan
- •Avoid caffeine and smoking for 4 hours prior to stabilize your heart rate.
- •Wear comfortable clothing
- •Bring your doctor's referral form.
During Your Scan
- •Small ECG electrode pads are placed on your chest to monitor heart rate.
- •You will lie flat on the CT table while taking short breath-holds.
- •Actual scan duration is less than 10 seconds.
- •No injections or contrast dyes are required.
After Your Scan
- •Return immediately to all routine activities.
- •Your scan is reviewed by our specialist radiologist, and the report is sent back to your referring doctor either the same day or the next day.
